Somehow in a blink of a eye, our newborn is now 2 months old – she’s smiling more, starting to talk (lots more cooing) and spends less time crying and more time enjoying the world around her. The days of simply eating and sleeping without much more happening are quickly being replaced by lots more playtime and engagement. It’s fun to start seeing her start to engage and develop personality. She has mastered flipping from stomach to back, tracking both toys and us, and is getting better at grabbing toys we put near her.

As I start preparing to go back to work in October – honestly, the US idea of maternity leave is awful! – I am already dreading all the things I’ll miss as she continues to grow. After spending the past 2 months almost inseparable except for a few solo outings, it will be strange to have large chunks of the day away from her. Thankfully I’ll only be part time for the first few months and won’t be back to full time until January. So for now I’m just making the most of the last few weeks!
