Monday we returned home from 10 days in the UK. We stayed with my Great Aunt Bernie and Great Uncle Jim at their lovely house in Kent, Treetop. Both kids loved exploring the place, and Maggie enjoyed being able to have private art lessons courtesy of Jim. I have many fond memories of visiting Treetop as a child, and hope Maggie and Graeme will too! We were able to do some day trips, despite a variety of illnesses that struck down each one of us at some stage! While traveling with kids definitely had it’s struggles (note: the enclosed capsules of the London Eye are not ideal for a screaming 14 month old….), I think we all enjoyed being in England, and I’m sure to be fielding many questions for when we’ll be returning – especially as Maggie has already asked about when we’ll see baby Alexa again!
And we’re off!
London
We took the train up to the city twice, the first time to visit with Rachel and her family, and Gemma and her family, and the second time to tick off items on Maggie’s bucket list: ride the top of a double decker bus, see Big Ben, go on the London Eye, and see Peter Pan.
Hever Castle
Maggie also wanted to “see a real Queen’s castle”.
Rochester
First photo was taken by Maggie – nice to have a budding photographer in the family!
Kew Gardens
Not many photos – but beautiful park with a treetop walkway the kids loved and a fantastic playground.
Treetop
The real highlight of the trip was the time spent with family – the kids meeting their great, great aunt and uncle, us getting to meet baby Lexie, and lots of time spent just catching up!
